Delivering quality and value for more than 20 years
For the past 20 years, Jensen / Fey Architecture and Planning has taken pride in delivering quality and value to our development clients. Our familiarity and experience in hospitality design extends across many brands and market segments. In these 20 years, we have designed more than 150 hotel projects, ranging from two stories to multi-level high rises located throughout the U.S. We have also worked within the City of Redmond and are currently working on a six story multi-family project that has given us the opportunity to learn the expectations of the current entitlement process in this jurisdiction.
Jensen / Fey is a full service 25-person architectural firm located in downtown Redmond. In the last year, we have also started an Interior Design firm called Greyspace. Greyspace is headed up by Carmen Sorensen, who has over 25 years of hospitality experience. Currently, Greyspace is providing ID services for a Courtyard, Hyatt House, Hampton Inn, Springhill Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and several boutique hotels.
At present, JF has many projects in the area either on the boards or under construction. These projects include a 15-story full service Marriott in the South Lake Union area of Seattle, a Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Bellevue, a Hampton Inn and Suites in north Seattle (Northgate), a Residence Inn in Renton and SeaTac, a Hyatt House in Anchorage and a Thompson Hotel in downtown Seattle.
Hotels demand quality design at every level. Whether it’s the composition that makes up a building’s facade, the right proportions needed for a comfortable space, or the perfect lighting to capture a mood, the design must perform. Our full-service approach with both architecture and interior design carries strong design principles from the exterior to the smallest details within, while still managing the cost and budget tracking throughout the entire design process.
As hotel specialists, we apply the fundamentals of a memorable guest experience in planning every aspect of a project. We understand that successful projects depend on a carefully orchestrated team effort. From the intimacy of interior design to the creation of significant “place“ in the urban design context, hotels depend on a multitude of team players, each contributing expertise and insight. We take our role in conducting this symphony quite seriously. Our singular purpose is to deliver an experience that is beyond expectations.
Over our firm’s 20-year history, we have had the good fortune of working with all types of construction in every sort of environment. Since it seems that most of the easily developed sites have already been built upon, we take pride in our problem-solving capabilities to work on the more challenging sites and accommodate the more difficult entitlement requirements. Whether it’s critical area intrusions or tight urban re-development, we welcome the challenges such projects present. It is our belief that within every project, there is an outstanding solution to be discovered.
At the end of the day, projects are as good as the documents used to construct them. Great designs are built on the foundation of technical expertise expressed through drawings. Our staff is committed to ensuring contractors have everything needed to build what has been envisioned. Our firm’s reputation is built upon the strength of this critical relationship.
